The Award-winning Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park, located 20 kms north of Proston, is a draw card for anglers, campers, bird-watchers and water-sports enthusiasts.

Situated three and quarter hours from Brisbane, the dam was originally built in 1983 to provide water to Tarong power station.  Since the completion of the dam the area has become one of the foremost recreation areas in the South Burnett, where the fishing is excellent and amenities second to none.

Known for its quiet and tranquil surroundings the Boondooma Dam is fast becoming an Angler’s paradise.  With over 200,000 fingerlings released annually into the dam.  The main species being Golden Perch (yellowbelly), Silver Perch and Australian Bass. Lake Boondooma is considered one of the most consistent inland fishing spots in Queensland.

Lake Boondooma has been described as “one of the Queensland’s best kept recreational secrets!”  Popular with families the area has been transformed into a comfortable and fun recreation camping village with a variety of accommodation including self-contained cabins, a bunk house, powered caravan sites and lakeside camping.

The camping and recreation area offers self-contained cabins with queen beds, modern kitchens, ensuites, colour TVs and verandahs overlooking the camping grounds and lake foreshores, each capable of sleeping up to five people.

If you require accommodation for a larger group a communal bunkhouse is available. It has 8 rooms and can sleep up to 32 people.   The separate dining hall has full kitchen facilities and seats up to 32 people.  The location offers spectacular views over the Dam and is a fantastic destination for corporate groups, fishing clubs, school camps and many more.

The Dam has excellent amenities which include hot showers and laundry facilities. Camp along the lake foreshore and take advantage of the modern camp kitchen which has wood and electric BBQ’s.

Stock up on supplies at the kiosk which sells basic grocery items, ice cream and treats, bait and tackle and ice.  Within the grounds you can picnic at one of the multiple picnic areas; play tennis; make use of the children’s playground or enjoy paddling along the shallows.
